The Labour Court did not recommend concession of the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s pay claim against ISS Ireland Limited for workers cleaning Dart carriages in Bray. It recommended a paid one-hour break within the workers’ eight-hour night shift. The recommendation was signed on 24 September 2007. The union said workers were paid for seven hours of an eight-hour shift and sought the earlier €12 hourly rate. The Court found that rate had applied to a particular short-notice deep-cleaning job. It recommended that the workers be paid for their breaks, effective from when the shifts began in May 2005.
