The Labour Court did not recommend conceding Mandate’s claim for a €1-an-hour pay increase at Bernie’s SuperValu. The recommendation was signed on 13 November 2007. Mandate sought an increase outside the national pay agreement, arguing that pay in the sector lagged behind comparable companies despite substantial profit growth. Bernie’s SuperValu said it applied the national agreement and that its terms precluded the further cost-increasing claim. The Court said the claim fell under the agreement’s provision for further cost-increasing claims and did not recommend that it be conceded.
