In 2008, the Labour Court found that a worker had been unfairly dismissed by Mosaic Assemblers Ltd and recommended €3,500 compensation. The recommendation was signed on 7 May 2008. The worker said Mosaic Assemblers dismissed her without explaining why and that delayed payment of money due added to the stress of her dismissal. The company said it ended her employment under common law, paid an extra week’s salary beyond the one week’s notice it considered due, and blamed payment delays on incorrect payroll information. The Court found the company’s conduct and lack of dismissal procedures fell far short of what might be expected of a reputable employer.
