The Labour Court did not recommend that Bandon Grammar School concede a worker’s claim for pay and conditions on a par with nurses in the mainstream health service. The recommendation was signed on 15 September 2008. The worker, a school matron represented by the Irish Nurses Organisation, sought parity in salary, on-call rates and call-outs, retrospective pay and pension access. The Court was not convinced that a comparison with nurses in the mainstream health service justified the claim.
