The Labour Court recommended that Cameron Ireland implement two ‘Towards 2016’ pay increases from their due dates after a dispute with Unite over machine monitoring and shift patterns. The recommendation was signed 14 November 2008. Cameron Ireland had withheld the increases while workers opposed a computerised system for monitoring machine performance. Unite said workers were willing to cooperate and the dispute over shift changes had delayed the system. The Court recommended accepting machine monitoring as normal ongoing change, implementing the increases retrospectively from their due dates, and addressing shift-change issues if they arose.
