The Labour Court recommended that Amen pay a worker €8,000 in compensation after finding his dismissal unfair. The recommendation was dated 27 January 2009. The worker joined Amen as a support worker in August 2007 and was dismissed in July 2008 during an extended probation period. He said the director’s interference made it difficult to do his job. Amen said his work and conduct were unsatisfactory. The Court found that the dismissal procedures did not provide for representation or an appeal. It considered that the worker may have contributed in part to the circumstances surrounding his dismissal when setting compensation at €8,000.
