The Labour Court recommended an 18-month pay pause at Shaws, effective from 1 March 2009, followed by negotiations on pay. The recommendation was signed on 29 March 2010. The Court recommended that Mandate accept the pause. The Court also recommended no cap on voluntary redundancy payments, while giving the company the right to accept or reject applicants and limiting each payment to what the worker would otherwise earn up to minimum retirement age. It recommended that Mandate accept the company’s revised position on incremental pay progression. Other recommendations included accepting the company’s offer on voluntary contract reductions and buy-outs for specified premium payments.
