The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the An Post Group of Unions’ claim for a financial inducement for staff after the National Lottery licence was transferred to a new company. The recommendation was signed on 14 November 2014. The unions argued workers’ expertise in building the lottery product helped raise the licence sale price and that a payment would recognise their contribution. An Post said the proceeds went to the State, not the company, and cited financial constraints and pressure to contain payroll costs.
