Labour Court recommends Bord Iascaigh Mhara pay seven workers at promoted-grade rates

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that Bord Iascaigh Mhara pay seven workers at rates commensurate with their promoted grades from 1 December 2015. The recommendation was signed on 27 May 2016. The workers had won internal competitions and performed the full duties of their promoted roles for more than five years, but remained on their former grades and salaries. SIPTU and Unite sought pay at the rates for those roles. Bord Iascaigh Mhara said it lacked departmental approval to promote them and was subject to a public service moratorium. The Court said the workers were established in their roles without the corresponding financial reward and recommended the pay change.
