The Labour Court upheld a €1,000 recommendation for a worker whose grievance was not progressed before his employment ended. Mc Sweeney Assets Group Holdings Limited had appealed, arguing that redundancy and the worker’s departure from active work justified stopping the procedure. The Court found the worker was entitled to have his grievance investigated under the company procedure and that the recommendation provided reasonable and proportionate compensation. It rejected the employer’s appeal. The decision was signed on 12 July 2016.
