The Labour Court recommended that Britvic Ireland apply agreed pay rates to 13 workers at its Ballygowan bottling plant, backdated to their respective start dates. The recommendation was dated 27 July 2016. Unite said the company breached its collective agreement by introducing lower rates for new starters from January 2015. Britvic Ireland said it had to reduce production costs after being instructed to increase output for the UK market, and that the workers had accepted the rates in their contracts. The Court noted that Britvic Ireland conceded breaching the agreement and recommended discussions about amended rates for future starters.
