Labour Court says an post worker’s seniority should follow assimilation agreement

By Niamh Kearney

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that a worker’s seniority at an post’s Portlaoise Mail Centre be determined under the existing assimilation agreement. The recommendation was dated 17 November 2016. The dispute concerned how the worker’s part-time service should count after he moved to full-time work. The Court said his seniority depended on determinations made under the agreement’s monitoring process, and found that an post had followed the agreed process with the Communication Workers’ Union (CWU). The worker’s case was not well founded and his appeal failed.
