The Labour Court recommended that the Office of Public Works pay a worker €750 for delays in concluding a bullying complaint process that took more than three years. The recommendation was signed on 18 January 2017. The worker appealed an adjudication officer’s €650 recommendation, arguing that the investigation and review had taken too long. The Office of Public Works said the serious allegations, high volume of complaints and need for fair procedures explained the timetable. The Court said the process placed unnecessary strain on those involved and was not best practice, while noting the investigation’s complexity and volume of complaints.
