Labour Court rejects worker’s €3,181.15 extra-hours claim

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court rejected a worker’s appeal over extra hours, upholding the Adjudication Officer’s recommendation. The decision was signed on 26 February 2018. The worker sought €3,181.15, saying staffing and workload issues made it impossible to finish her core duties within her contracted hours. Brothers of Charity Services said she was paid for an extra 4.5 hours per fortnight and could accrue time off in lieu for hours beyond her 78-hour fortnight. The Court found there had been confusion about expectations and recording hours, but was satisfied she was not expected to work beyond her contracted hours or use sleepover hours for other duties.
