The Labour Court recommended that Ashton Dog Pound pay wardens a minimum of three hours at the agreed rate when called out. Its recommendation, dated 14 October 2020, rejected a new on-call allowance and any change to the Sunday premium. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought four hours’ pay per call-out, an on-call allowance and double time on Sundays. The employer said an allowance would be financially impractical and reported 15 call-outs in the previous 12 months, a figure the union did not dispute.
