Labour Court recommends renewed pay talks between Banagher Precast Concrete and union

By Aoife Loughran

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended further negotiations between Banagher Precast Concrete and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over a pay claim involving 120 General Operatives. The recommendation was signed on 2 November 2020. The union sought a four-band pay structure, higher rates, improved overtime, sick pay and better pension terms. The company proposed staged increases and a gradual reduction in the hours employees had to work before overtime applied. The Court said the parties' positions differed considerably and that the company's failure to share relevant financial information had contributed to the lack of progress. It recommended intensive local negotiations, with assistance from the Workplace Relations Commission's Conciliation Service if needed.
