The Labour Court recommended that Limerick City And County Council pay a worker €1,000 after a dispute over his work location. The recommendation was dated 10 July 2023 and followed the worker’s appeal of an Adjudication Officer’s €2,500 recommendation. The Court subsumed three recommendations on the same facts into one. The worker did not move to the location specified by management and the council withheld his pay after he did not attend there. The Court said his contract allowed the transfer, but found the council had not meaningfully considered his concerns or possible alternatives. It also said his refusal to attend contributed considerably to the worsening dispute. The €1,000 recommendation recognised the council’s contribution.
