The Labour Court recommended a 2.5-year retrospection period in a dispute over on-call standby payments for 20 Medical Scientists at Beaumont Hospital. The recommendation was dated 5 June 2024. The medical scientists, represented by MLSA, sought payment at the correct off-site standby rate for services from March 2011 to December 2019. They cited a 2011 Labour Court recommendation setting rates and a 2020 HSE memo confirming the off-site rates. Beaumont Hospital, represented by IBEC, disputed that retrospective payments applied and said it had followed the 2011 circular and 2020 memo. The Court recommended resolving the trade dispute through 2.5 years of retrospection.
