The Labour Court set aside an Adjudication Officer’s €1,000 recommendation in a grievance-procedure dispute involving Grant Engineering (Ireland) Unlimited Company and a worker. The decision was signed on 17 June 2024. The worker said he had raised an issue about an alleged €5.92-per-day underpayment on days assigned to testing in the welding area. The employer said he had not raised the issue through its grievance procedure and disputed that it had failed to follow the procedure. The Court regarded the industrial-relations dispute as resolved because the underlying grievance was being determined through legal complaints under the Payment of Wages Act, 1991.
