The Labour Court recommended that C Morton & Sons Ltd pay a worker €1,500 as a goodwill gesture in full and final settlement of a dispute over pre-booked leave. The recommendation was dated 24 June 2024. The worker said she had told the employer at interview that she had already booked travel to Brazil for February and was assured her leave could be accommodated. In January, she was told she had to work three days during the trip or change her travel, or her employment would end. The employer did not attend the hearing, and the Court accepted the worker’s undisputed account.
