The Labour Court recommended against a claim by SIPTU, on behalf of eight forepersons at South Dublin County Council, for extra overtime and retrospective pay for opening and closing park depots. Its recommendation was signed on 11 June 2025. SIPTU said the forepersons had to arrive 30 minutes before the 8am start and stay 15 minutes after the 4.45pm finish, and sought overtime and retrospective payment for nearly nine years. The Council said the existing 15-minute double-time payment covered the duties and that opening and closing could be done within scheduled hours. The Court found no justifiable basis to recommend conceding the claim, accepting the Council's position that the forepersons were not required to work outside their set hours.
