The Labour Court set aside Rights Commissioner awards to waiter Raffaele Papa after allowing his employer's appeal. The determination was signed on 20 July 2016. Bellchime Limited T/A Ristorante Rossini had appealed a €500 award over written terms and a €1,500 award over Sunday-work premium and breaks.
Papa failed to appear at the relisted appeal hearing on 14 July 2016, though his solicitor attended. The Court said the employer's case was uncontested and set aside the earlier decisions; the merits were not decided.
