The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that Midwest Security Services Limited and a worker seek an agreed termination after a dispute over his transfer from Charleville to Limerick. The Court’s decision was dated 9 April 2001. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, refused the transfer and was on unpaid suspension. The union said he had been promised work at the Golden Vale site; the company said it needed to move him so it could supervise him. The Court found the employment agreement allowed transfers between sites and there was no independent evidence of a private arrangement. The recommendation called for the parties to meet to negotiate an agreed termination, including a small lump sum recognising the company’s part in the dispute.
