The Workplace Relations Commission awarded delivery driver Dumitru Sehleanu €7,500 for excessive weekly hours and €7,500 for missed rest breaks in a decision dated 20 June 2023. The awards were statutory redress, not wages or arrears. Sehleanu said he worked long hours without proper breaks and alleged unsafe work, below-minimum pay and constructive dismissal. His employer, Cordelia Foods Limited, disputed his account. The officer found that Sehleanu worked beyond the 48-hour weekly limit and that the company had no working-time records to show it provided required breaks. The officer dismissed or found not well founded his complaints about penalisation, constructive dismissal and mobile-worker rules, and declined jurisdiction over the minimum-wage complaint. Six duplicate complaints were also dismissed or found not well founded.
