The Workplace Relations Commission found that Wesley Gibbons lacked legal standing to pursue a complaint under the Protection of Employees (Fixed-Term Work) Act 2003. The decision, dated 17 May 2024, was issued by Adjudication Officer Kara Turner. Gibbons sought a contract of indefinite duration, related entitlements and compensation, saying he had worked as a relief cleaner for An Garda Síochána from 2016. The WRC found there had been no work or direct contact between the parties since September 2020 and no evidence that he was employed under a qualifying fixed-term contract during the relevant period. It declared the complaint not well founded.
