Family-status discrimination complaint against Cineworld fails after complainant misses hearing

By Donal Gilhooly

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission found Erin Royal’s family-status discrimination complaint against Cineworld Cinemas not well-founded after she failed to attend the hearing. The decision was dated 31 May 2023. Royal alleged she was not offered a promotion because her sister worked in cinema management. The adjudicator said the matter could not be considered further because she failed to attend despite proper notice; the merits were not decided.
