The Workplace Relations Commission allowed Andrzej Wronka’s appeal and found he was entitled to a statutory redundancy payment after his employer ceased business. The entitlement is calculated at two weeks’ pay per year or part-year of service, plus one additional week, subject to confirmation that his employment was insurable. Wronka worked for GL West Cork Motors Ltd. from July 2014 until January 2022, earning an average weekly wage of €404. He said the business closed and he received no redundancy payment. The decision, dated 1 August 2023, sets out the service period and wage used to calculate his entitlement, but does not give a calculated payment amount.
