The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Leon O'Connor's religious discrimination complaint against Finance Ireland Limited after he failed to attend the hearing. The decision was dated 19 July 2023. O'Connor had applied for a position with the company on or about 21 May 2022 and was unsuccessful. He brought the complaint under the Employment Equality Act 1998, alleging discrimination on the ground of religion. The WRC said no case had been made out because O'Connor did not attend to present his case. It dismissed the complaint as not well founded after the complainant failed to attend; the merits were not decided.
