The Workplace Relations Commission found Margaret Whelan Ryan’s Payment of Wages complaint against the Department Of Agriculture, Food & The Marine was not well founded. The WRC found it had no jurisdiction over the pension element and extended the time limit for considering the wage claim, but found no unlawful wage deduction in the period considered. The WRC found the complaint was brought outside the time limit and was not well founded; the merits were not decided. The decision was dated 4 July 2023. Ryan said a delayed pay increment affected her salary and could have influenced her decision to retire early. Her separate Employment Equality Act complaint was withdrawn at the hearing.
