The Workplace Relations Commission found Michael Robbins was not entitled to notice pay because he was a self-employed contractor, not an employee. It found his complaint under the Payment of Wages Act 1991 not well founded. Robbins sought clarification about notice payment after his engagement ended. The respondent said his contract provided no notice payment and that he was engaged as a self-employed contractor. The WRC decision was dated 18 May 2023.
