The WRC recommended that an employer pay an assistant director of nursing €3,500 compensation after a dispute over unpaid overtime and the handling of his grievance. The decision by Adjudication Officer Niamh O'Carroll was dated 7 June 2023. The employee had covered a nursing shift during a staffing shortfall and was due €545 in overtime. The employer conceded the payment was due and said it would pay on 1 June 2023. The officer noted that the employee had waited a year to resolve the matter. The WRC recommended that the employer follow its procedures, honour grievance outcomes and pay the €3,500 compensation by 1 July 2023.
