The Workplace Relations Commission found it had no jurisdiction to hear Cormac Mc Guinness’s complaint against The Courts Service because it was brought outside the statutory time limit. The decision was dated 23 June 2023; the merits were not decided. Mc Guinness, a temporary Judicial Assistant on a fixed-term contract, said he was refused admission to an interview for another temporary role and argued that he was entitled to a further fixed-term contract. The WRC found that his complaint was lodged outside the one-year limit and remained out of time even if an extension were granted.
