The Workplace Relations Commission found that Catherine Egan’s unfair dismissal complaint against Tallaght University Hospital was referred too late and that the merits could not be decided. The decision was dated 23 May 2024. Egan said she waited for the hospital to respond to workplace complaints before seeking advice and referring her case. The hospital argued the complaint was out of time and that there was no reasonable cause to extend the deadline. The WRC found she had not shown reasonable cause for the delay, so it lacked jurisdiction to decide the unfair dismissal complaint. Her separate Employment Equality Act complaint was withdrawn at the hearing.
