A Workplace Relations Commission adjudication officer found that mechanic Eamon Lynch was entitled to a redundancy payment and awards for notice, sick pay, a week’s wages and annual leave. The decision, dated 6 June 2024, followed the closure of the garage where Lynch worked for Jack Sleator Motors Limited. The officer awarded Lynch €1,760 for 16 days of holiday pay and €1,320 for three weeks’ notice. The sick leave complaint resulted in €231 in statutory sick pay and €880 compensation for the employer’s failure to provide it. A further €440 was awarded for the carried-forward week of pay. The respondent did not attend the hearing, and the redundancy payment was subject to Lynch having been in insurable employment during the relevant period.
