WRC dismisses discrimination complaint against Convention Centre Dublin

By Orla Quinn

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Silvino Lucena Medeiros’s equality complaint against The Convention Centre Dublin because it was brought against the wrong respondent. The decision was dated 31 May 2024, and the merits were not decided. Medeiros alleged discrimination on age and race grounds, including harassment and problems with training and working conditions. He said supervisors spoke rudely to him, denied him food after table cleaning and required him to carry heavy bags. The adjudicator found Medeiros was an agency worker and The Convention Centre Dublin was not his employer. He could have brought the complaint against his recruitment company, which was his employer.
