The Workplace Relations Commission found driver Owen Murtagh’s claims against Sonoma Valley Limited t/a Gsls not well founded, including his claim for a €1,000 retention bonus. In a decision dated 5 June 2024, the adjudication officer found Murtagh had not made a protected complaint under the employment information law, and that the evidence did not establish an agreement to pay the €1,000 bonus. Murtagh said he had been promised the bonus after a year’s service and faced workplace consequences after raising the issue. The respondent disputed that such a retention bonus existed and said a separate performance bonus was available.
