The Workplace Relations Commission found in Tina Kelly’s favour in two complaints against Europhil Service Station Limited, awarding six weeks’ notice pay. The decision was dated 17 May 2024. Kelly said she worked as a shop assistant from August 2012 until the business closed suddenly in September 2023, without paying her redundancy or notice pay. The respondent did not attend the hearing. The officer allowed her redundancy complaint, subject to confirmation that her employment was insurable for this purpose. The statutory payment is calculated at two weeks per year or part-year, plus one week, using a gross weekly wage of €390. The officer also found the minimum-notice complaint well founded and awarded six weeks’ notice pay.
