Aidan Hyland was awarded €600 after the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found his employer had breached the requirement to provide written terms of employment. The decision was dated 14 June 2024. Hyland worked for Sam Catering Ltd Sam Catering And Hospitality Service from 13 December 2023 to 19 January 2024. He said he had not received written terms. The employer did not attend the hearing, and the adjudicator relied on Hyland’s uncontested evidence. The law requires an employer to give an employee a written statement of employment terms within one month of their starting work. The WRC found the requirement had not been met and ordered the employer to pay €600 compensation.
