The Workplace Relations Commission found James Carroll entitled to a statutory redundancy payment after his employment with Roadbridge Limited (in Liquidation) ended by reason of redundancy. The decision was dated 21 June 2024. Carroll told the adjudication officer that he had been made redundant. The respondent did not attend the hearing, but its liquidator had said the case could proceed in his absence. The officer found Carroll’s service had been unbroken since 1998 and that the proposed alternative job was significantly different, with an extra two-hour daily journey. The payment is based on his service and gross weekly wage of €1,346, subject to a €600 weekly-pay ceiling and the requirement that he was in insurable employment during the relevant period.
