The Workplace Relations Commission has ordered Beyond Beautiful Boutique Ltd t/a Tiffany to pay Ann Walsh €69 compensation for unlawful wage deductions. The decision was dated 21 June 2024. Walsh said the business stopped paying her for lunch breaks in the weeks before her dismissal. The adjudication officer found the wages were properly payable and the failure to pay them was an unlawful deduction. The decision also found she was entitled to a statutory redundancy payment, calculated using gross weekly remuneration of €184 and subject to an insurable-employment condition. Her unfair-dismissal complaint was not well founded because the officer found she had been dismissed by reason of redundancy. The officer said the manner in which her dismissal was communicated was far from satisfactory.
