Bph Construction Limited t/a Blueprint Homes was ordered to pay Mark John Power €5,000 compensation after the WRC found he was unfairly dismissed. The decision was dated 4 June 2024 and made by WRC Adjudication Officer Thomas O'Driscoll. Power had worked as a Load-All driver. The company’s director cited problems with colleagues, equipment damage and a near miss, but accepted Power was dismissed without an investigation or disciplinary procedures. The officer found the dismissal unreasonable and said the employer had disregarded fair procedures. Power started another job at the same rate six weeks later and remained employed, which the officer considered when setting compensation. His separate complaint that he was penalised for reporting an offence was not well founded because he provided no evidence of a relevant report or related penalisation. His minimum-notice complaint also failed because he accepted two weeks’ pay in lieu of notice.
