The Workplace Relations Commission directed Astra Tech Design Ltd to pay Brian Doherty €2,000 for contractual notice and €344 for accrued annual leave in a decision dated 10 June 2024. Doherty said he had not received four weeks’ notice pay after his employment ended and claimed €480 for unused annual leave. The company disputed his notice entitlement and said he was owed €344 for leave. The WRC found he had been dismissed and was entitled to four weeks’ notice under his contract. It awarded €2,000, less lawful deductions. It also found that €344 in annual leave had accrued and ordered the company to pay that amount, less lawful deductions. His complaint about October wages was not well founded because he accepted that he had been paid. A separate issue about company property was outside the adjudicator’s remit.
