The Labour Court recommended that HSE Saolta Group pay a theatre operative at Sligo University Hospital €3,000 after finding its handling of grievance and disciplinary procedures fell far short of best practice. The Court varied an earlier €8,000 recommendation in a decision dated 10 June 2024. The worker had raised concerns about grievance handling, a disciplinary process and access to overtime. HSE Saolta Group said the worker’s own grievance was upheld, its policy gave no right to appeal a colleague’s grievance outcome, and the worker had suffered no loss of earnings. It also said weekend overtime access was part of an ongoing collective dispute.
