The WRC did not recommend in a cleaner’s favour in her unfair dismissal dispute after she failed to attend the hearing. In a recommendation dated 19 June 2024, Adjudication Officer Gaye Cunningham said the hearing closed without considering submissions; the merits were not decided. The worker had referred the dispute under the Industrial Relations Act 1969 because she had less than 12 months’ continuous service. The employer provided a written submission about the circumstances of her dismissal.
