The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) refused an extension of time for Gerard Woods’s complaint alleging that Applus Inspection Services Ireland Ltd discriminated against him when it dismissed him. Adjudication Officer Andrew Heavey’s decision was dated 10 June 2025; the complaint was ruled out of time and statute barred. Woods sought an extension, saying an unfair dismissal complaint had been lodged by mistake despite the intention to claim discriminatory dismissal. The respondent argued the equality complaint missed the statutory six-month deadline. An earlier unfair dismissal complaint was withdrawn; the WRC made no finding on whether the dismissal was discriminatory.
