The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found Darelli Limited unfairly dismissed security officer William Dobbyn because it failed to follow fair procedures, and ordered the company to pay him €1,312. Adjudication Officer Catherine Byrne’s decision was dated 10 June 2025. Darelli said repeated incidents of Dobbyn sleeping or failing to stay alert on duty justified dismissal. The WRC accepted there were reasonable grounds to dismiss him, but found the company should have issued a final written warning before ending his employment. Four complaints under the Parental Leave Act 1998 and Carer’s Leave Act 2001 were not well founded.
