Labour Court upholds Pfizer decision after worker misses appeal hearing

By Donal Gilhooly

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court upheld a WRC decision after a worker failed to attend the hearing of her appeal against Pfizer Ireland Pharmaceuticals Private Unlimited Company. The appeal concerned a complaint of disability discrimination. In a determination dated 16 May 2024, the Court said the appellant knew the hearing date and had given no satisfactory explanation for her absence. The merits were not decided on appeal, and the WRC finding that discrimination was not proven remained in place.
