The WRC recommended that a retail worker return to an 8am start and finish at 3pm, with future roster reviews limited to urgent business needs or exceptional circumstances. The recommendation was dated 8 June 2023. The worker said she had worked regular hours above 35 a week for a significant period and wanted more certainty after her employer asked her to return to an 8am start. The employer said it wanted an arrangement that met both business and worker needs. The officer noted that the 7am start had begun at the employer’s request during the pandemic and recommended the earlier finish to accommodate the worker’s personal commitments.
