The WRC recommended that a university pay a teacher €8,154.93 more in redundancy compensation in a recommendation dated 2 August 2023. The teacher said she accepted a three-week payment option worth €39,706.43 under a 2013 High Court settlement but received €31,511.50. The university said its payment followed public service rules and Department of Further and Higher Education approval, which capped the amount. The adjudication officer found no basis to undermine the settlement, which provided for five weeks’ pay per year of service without a cap. The WRC recommended paying the €8,154.93 difference.
