The Labour Court recommended that Go-Ahead Transport Services (Ireland) Limited pay a worker €118.32 for a day he attended work after returning from Covid self-isolation. The recommendation was dated 27 June 2023. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said he had notified the employer that he would return and was sent home when he arrived. The employer said it had arranged cover after he missed two earlier days and could not rely on his attendance. The Court found that he had notified the employer, had not been told to stay away and could reasonably expect payment for attending. It recommended one day’s wages.
